Latest Spurs news: Roy recounts how his daughter became a Tottenham fan
England’s Ashes hero Ben Stokes got a Tottenham jersey with his name after his heroic innings against Australia.
The all-rounder even declared that he is a Tottenham supporter now, and he isn’t the only one expecting something from the club during the series.
Jason Roy wrote in his column on Sky Sports and highlighted that he too wanted to win something from the club should he do well against the Aussies:
“Even if just to see what I can get sent to me from Tottenham Hotspur; Stokesy has been showing off with the new shirt he got sent by them after his hundred, but my little girl Everly is a Tottenham fan.”
Champions League run got another Spurs fan
The England star then explained how his daughter became a Tottenham supporter and it all had to do with our run to the final of the Champions League last season.
Roy claimed that his daughter was crying and the incredible game against Manchester City was the reason why she calmed down:
“During their Champions League game against Manchester City earlier in the year, I remember she was crying and crying and crying, and then I flicked the football on and suddenly she stopped.
“I said, if Tottenham
win this game, she’s a Tottenham fan. She didn’t cry the whole game and, in my opinion, their run to the final was all down to her.”
Roy would want to perform in the same manner as we did in the Champions League last season.
The Ashes is one of the biggest rivalries in cricket and Spurs are coming off a decent point from their biggest rivals, Arsenal.
Tottenham had raced into a 2-0 lead at the Emirates before Arsenal came fighting back, and it will be interesting to see how our season goes after the international break.
