Lo Celso plays down fears of serious injury after Argentina clash

Tottenham seem to have avoided another injury scare after Giovani Lo Celso picked up a knock during the international break.

Tanguy Ndombele has missed our last two games with a problem while Ryan Sessegnon is yet to feature for the team since joining from Fulham.

Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth also are suffering from injuries, and it seemed like Lo Celso would join the list too.

The Argentine hasn’t started for Mauricio Pochettino this season since signing from Real Betis and was subbed off in the 0-0 friendly with Chile.

The 23-year-old was on the end of a tough challenge, according to the Evening Standard, but the midfielder has allayed fears that he has suffered a serious groin injury.

The former Paris Saint-Germain star claimed the blow wasn’t something to be concerned about (h/t Evening Standard):

“We deserved a bit more. We had a lot of chances to convert but it wasn’t to be. My problem was only a blow, it is not something to worry about.”

Tottenham will have to hand Lo Celso a start soon

Pochettino might have taken it a bit easy with Lo Celso and not thrust him in the starting XI, especially with two games against Arsenal and Manchester City in our opening four clashes.

However, the Argentine midfielder needs to start games soon once the Champions League enters our schedule.

The youngster was great for Betis in the Spanish league, and it will be interesting to see what he can do when given a start.

Tottenham have looked a little out of sorts in the attack this season, but Lo Celso should be able to solve that problem.

The 23-year-old scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists in La Liga last season, and Spurs could use some goals from the midfield this campaign too.
