James Maddison wants to play at highest level after great start with Leicester City
James Maddison has been one of the best English players since the start of last season.
The midfielder joined the Foxes from Norwich City and has broken into the national team too.
Maddison has been great this season as well and was an unused substitute in England’s 4-0 win over Bulgaria.
Tottenham were interested in the 22-year-old during the summer, and the Englishman spoke about those links with Spurs and Manchester United (h/t Football.london):
“I want to play at the highest level my ability will allow me to.
“I like to think I’ve my head screwed on with the transfers I’ve made. I’ve played League One, in Scotland, the Championship and the Premier League. I worked my way up.”
The youngster was excellent for Norwich before he joined the Foxes, and the step up from the Championship to the Premier League hasn’t fazed the England star.
Pochettino to work with another talented Englishman?
Mauricio Pochettino has a great track record of developing young talent, especially English players, and it would not be a big surprise if Maddison ends up at Tottenham in the future.
Spurs have been on the up since Pochettino joined and he took us to the Champions League final too.
Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Kyle Walker-Peters are some English players who have improved under the Argentine, but prying Maddison away from Leicester won’t be easy.

The Foxes are playing extremely well under Brendan Rodgers and they seem set to break into the top six in the Premier League this season.
