Tottenham open to Christian Eriksen-Paulo Dybala swap in January

Tottenham’s hopes of landing Paulo Dybala aren’t over yet, according to Tuttosport (h/t Calciomercato).

The Argentine seemed set to leave the club in the summer with the report claiming that Spurs and Manchester United were interested in the 25-year-old.

Paulo Dybala

Dybala didn’t start for Juventus in their 4-3 win over Napoli but came off the bench for a few minutes.

The Argentine struggled for form last season and saw Cristiano Ronaldo take over the scoring duties.

The report adds that Tottenham had agreed on a fee for Dybala but image rights issues could not be finalised before the closure of the transfer window.

However, Tottenham are interested in Dybala and are open to swapping the Argentine for Christian Eriksen (h/t Calciomercato).

A win-win situation for Tottenham?

Eriksen is a free agent at the end of the season and had declared his interest in taking up a new challenge recently.

However, the Dane was unable to seal an exit during the summer, and the report claims that Eriksen is open to joining the Turin giants.

This deal could be the best possible outcome for Spurs given that we cannot lose Eriksen on a free. Dybala would be a quality addition to the team and can play in several positions in the attack.

The Argentine could play behind Harry Kane or take up a position out wide. Dybala could also play in the midfield, and Mauricio Pochettino is the perfect manager to get the best out of the Juventus star.
