Bernd Leno claims Arsenal are the ones who are a ‘world club’ in jibe at Tottenham
Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno hasn’t been able to replicate his form from the Bundesliga.
The former Bayer Leverkusen star was at fault for the opening goal in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham before the international break and has taken a swipe at their rivals.
The German was speaking to SportBild and claimed that the Gunners were the only ones who had fans across the world (h/t Mirror):
“You can’t compare that, of course Arsenal is a world club, THE club here in London.
“Not Chelsea, not Tottenham – Arsenal is the club here with fans around the world. ‘No matter where we are, also in the USA or in Asia, there are many fans of Arsenal everywhere.’”
Spurs supporters don’t take kindly to Leno’s comments
The German is way off the mark when suggesting that Tottenham don’t have fans across the world.
The Asia tour was enough proof to showcase Tottenham are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and we are improving in each season under Mauricio Pochettino.
Spurs have finished above Arsenal in the previous three seasons, and we should finish in the top four in this campaign too.
Tottenham might have started this campaign a little slowly but we should be back to our best when all our players are fit and available for selection.
All our summer signings are out with problems while the likes of Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth have also had injuries in recent weeks.
Many Tottenham fans didn’t agree with Leno’s comments about the club, and here are some of their reactions from Twitter.
