Real Madrid see Christian Eriksen as Paul Pogba alternative in January
Christian Eriksen might have remained at Tottenham after the summer transfer window, but he is still a target for Real Madrid, according to Sky Sports (h/t Calciomercato).
The 27-year-old Dane is a free agent at the end of the season but could be on the move in January, according to the report.
Real still want to sign Paul Pogba, however, the Frenchman could sign a new deal with Manchester United with a higher release clause (h/t Calciomercato).
That could foil Real’s plans at landing Pogba, and they would then shift their attention to Eriksen in the January window (h/t Calciomercato).
Eriksen unlikely to sign new deal
Getting Eriksen to extend his stay at Tottenham would be incredible, however, the report adds that it is unlikely for the Dane to sign a new deal with the club.
Losing Eriksen in the winter window wouldn’t be the worst deal as we could get a decent sum for the 27-year-old.
Spurs need their top players to perform at their best after a couple of poor results. We lost to Newcastle, surprisingly at home, and then threw away a two-goal lead against Arsenal at the Emirates.
