Mauricio Pochettino claims Victor Wanyama is still a part of his plans

The Daily Record claims that Victor Wanyama was close to leaving Tottenham in the summer, with Club Brugge a possible destination.

The Kenya midfielder has struggled with injuries in recent years while the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele has pushed him down the pecking order.

The 28-year-old even went through a medical ahead of a £13million move to join Brugge and was even linked with a return to Celtic, but neither deal took place (h/t Daily Record).

However, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino claims Wanyama is still a part of his plans this season.

Christian Eriksen is also out of a contract at the end of the season, and the Argentine added that the Dane should feature in the team (h/t Daily Record):

“Victor Wanyama is in my plans. Christian is in my plans.

“Before I understood that they were in a difficult situation and, of course, we tried to help them, to help the club, to do their business.”

Tottenham’s injury concerns

The Kenya midfielder was one of the best in the Premier League during his Southampton days, and he impressed in his debut season at Tottenham.

However, injuries have been a problem for the 28-year-old and it will be interesting to see when Pochettino gives him a chance.

Tottenham have seen several stars pick up injuries and niggles already this season and hopefully, Wanyama can stay fit for the majority of the campaign.
