Mauricio Pochettino held one-hour meeting with squad to get season back on track
The Sun reports that Mauricio Pochettino held an hour-long meeting with the team to get our season back to track.
Tottenham have faltered a bit this season after a draw against Arsenal and a loss at home to Newcastle. We lie seven points behind leaders Liverpool after just four games.
The manager also “urged” some exit-linked players to focus on the job at hand and put their personal problems on the back-burner, according to the report.
The Sun adds that Danny Rose, Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld aren’t certain of their futures at the club, but were present for training with the team yesterday.
The trio has also featured in most of our games this season, and we need the likes of Alderweireld and Eriksen to perform at their best.
Pochettino unhappy with how the summer went
The report adds that the manager was unhappy about the fact that Daniel Levy couldn’t offload some of the players in the summer.
Alderweireld and Eriksen are free agents at the end of the season, while players such as Victor Wanyama, Serge Aurier and Rose are deemed surplus to requirements (h/t Sun).
Pochettino highlighted what he spoke about during the meeting and claimed the team has to stick together until the winter window (h/t Sun):
“It was so important to be refocused. The conversation was with the squad all together, as we are going to have until January, when the rumours will appear again.
“It was very good to talk for nearly one hour and refocus again on our objectives.”
Tottenham’s next game is against Crystal Palace at the weekend and they need to get back to winning ways.

Spurs also have the Champions League after the Palace tie, and it will be interesting to see how we do against Olympiakos too.
