Tottenham could be due £490,000 in compensation over Giovani Lo Celso’s injury
Football.london (h/t Sun) claims that Tottenham star Giovani Lo Celso was injured during the international break and the club can claim compensation if he is out for more than 28 days.
The Argentine was playing for the national side in a friendly during the break and will be out until the end of October.
Spurs expect him to return to training by the end of October, and the Argentine is set to miss several important games for the club.
The report quotes FIFA’s rules regarding compensation from the governing body:
“The compensation payable is based solely on the fixed salary that the football club pays directly to the football player and his employer”.
Tottenham in line for huge compensation
Spurs could make close to £490,000 from FIFA should Lo Celso not return to first-team training on 25th October (h/t Sun).
The 23-year-old didn’t start a game for us before picking up the injury, and this will come as a blow to our plans for the campaign.
Tottenham’s Champions League and domestic cup campaigns start after the international break, and we could have used Lo Celso’s services.

It will be interesting to see how Spurs do without the talented Argentine. Tottenham have had several injury problems this season and cannot do with more players staying out of action in the coming weeks.
