Mauricio Pochettino claims fans have right to criticise team

Mauricio Pochettino defended the fans’ right to criticise the team after several poor results. Tottenham were held by Olympiakos and were recently beaten by Colchester in the Carabao Cup.

We have even given away leads against Arsenal and Leicester City, and Mauricio Pochettino spoke to the press after the loss to Colchester.

The Argentine claimed that the fans have the right to criticise the club and the players had to accept it (h/t Football.london):

“That is normal. The fans are always right to criticise. The fans are the only ones who you have to accept the criticism from and you cannot complain about that. They are right to express their feelings and emotions.”

The manager added that the fans want the club to win every game and are extremely attached to the club. Pochettino claimed that nothing could be said to the fans, and that the game was enjoyable with them:

“The fans are emotional. The fans want to win always. The fans love the club, the fans love the players, the fans sometimes love the coaching staff and manager, sometimes.

“Of course you cannot say anything about the fans. The fans keep the game alive that is so beautiful. We are here because of them and that is why they can always give their opinion.”

Fans have a right to share their concerns

Our supporters have a right to share their disappointments after our Champions League run last campaign.

Spurs need to get things back on track and the support from the fans will play a huge role in the coming weeks. Our next game is against Southampton and the fans should back the players to put up a great performance.

We beat Crystal Palace 4-0 at our home a couple of weeks ago, and a similar performance would be a great base to build the season on.
