Dael Fry wants to play Premier League football with Middlesbrough

Dael Fry has been linked with Tottenham after a great start to this season with Middlesbrough (h/t Gazette Live).

Manchester City, Wolves and Everton are also interested in the highly-rated 22-year-old defender. (h/t Gazette Live).

The defender claimed that his aim was to make it to the Premier League with Boro, however, he wasn’t sure about his future should his side not gain promotion.

The youngster was speaking to Sky Sports and highlighted his commitment to his current side though (h/t Gazette Live):

“At the moment if I’m going to play in the Premier League I want it to be with Middlesbrough.

“This season I’m going to give 110% to try and get in the Premier League. If not, who knows what’s going to happen. But I’m at Middlesbrough, I’m going to give 110%. If I’m going to play in the Premier League it’s going to be with Middlesbrough Football Club.”

The youngster was asked if he was flattered by the links to the Premier League clubs. The defender was happy and wanted to keep his head down and work on the pitch:

“Yeah, it is, yeah. There’s speculation and a lot of top clubs but you just have to put it to one side and keep working hard.”

Fry won’t come on the cheap

Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate believes the youngster is worth more than £20m and was certain that the rumours wouldn’t affect the player (h/t Gazette Live).

Tottenham have four first-team centre-backs at the moment and recently handed Japhet Tanganga his debut in the Carabao Cup against Colchester.

Fry could be a smart addition for the future given that Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are in their 30s.
