Matt Le Tissier claims James Maddison is the ideal Christian Eriksen replacement
James Maddison proved his big-game ability by scoring the winner against Tottenham.
The former Norwich City midfielder has done great things after joining Leicester City last season, and hasn’t been affected by the jump to the top division.
The 22-year-old is one of the most creative players in the Premier League and was linked with a move to Spurs before joining Leicester (h/t Evening Standard).
The youngster has now been tipped by former Southampton great Matt Le Tissier to replace Christian Eriksen at Tottenham.
The Dane is a free agent at the end of the season and has attracted the attention of Real Madrid and Manchester United (h/t Football.london).
Le Tissier was speaking to Sky Sports and highlighted why Spurs should target the 22-year-old (h/t Football.london):
“He (Maddison) is a player that would be on the radar of a team like Spurs, especially if they were to lose Christian Eriksen.
“You look at James Maddison and he would be a pretty ideal replacement. I think this boy has got everything in his locker.”
Arsenal legend Paul Merson also echoed Le Tissier’s comments and believed Maddison would do a great job at a top club (h/t Football.london).
Returning to fix a missed opportunity?
Not landing Maddison a few years back certainly seems to be a mistake but it is difficult to guess how things will take place with young players.
Tottenham could do with more creativity in the middle of the park, and the English youngster seems to be the perfect player to replace the Dane.
