Serge Gnabry scores four past Tottenham in the Champions League
It was a night to forget for Tottenham as they were hammered 7-2 at home by Bayern Munich. Spurs came into the game with one point from their opening Champions League game, and Mauricio Pochettino named a strong line-up.
Dele Alli was back in the side but the best chances fell to Son Heung-min. The South Korean opened the scoring with a rasping drive in the 12th minute but the lead didn’t last long.
Joshua Kimmich thundered home the equaliser just three minutes later and Robert Lewandowski handed Bayern the lead just before half-time with a smart finish.
The Gnabry show
Serge Gnabry has been on the up since his move to the Bundesliga. The former Arsenal attacker signed for Werder Bremen after a lack of first-team chances under Arsene Wenger and was picked up by Bayern later.
The attacker was in exceptional form as he scored four second-half goals with Lewandowski finding the net once more in the rout. Tottenham did make the score 4-2 at one point and had a few chances to score before Bayern went on the rampage, but this was a shocking outing.
Former Spurs striker Gary Lineker tried to point out to one positive from the game, but this was far from an ideal performance given our circumstances.
Arsenal losing out on a world
Tottenham also started last season’s Champions League group in a similar fashion but made it to the final.

Hopefully, we can do something similar this time around, but we didn’t have to deal with such humiliation last season.
