Manchester United interested in landing Toby Alderweireld in January
Toby Alderweireld is out of a contract at the end of the season and Manchester United are keen on the Belgian, according to Tuttosport (h/t Daily Mail).
The 30-year-old has been one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League but could move on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.
Tottenham tried to negotiate an extension with the Belgian but failed to reach an agreement (h/t Daily Mail).
The Red Devils have eyed Alderweireld for a while and will try to land him in the January window, according to the report. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have made their worst start to the league in 30 years after their 1-1 draw against Arsenal.
The Red Devils paid a huge fee to sign Harry Maguire in the summer, but that hasn’t stemmed a run of poor results. Alderweireld is one of the best defenders in the world and Spurs have a big decision to make regarding his future.
To sell or not to sell
Tottenham
However, they could recoup some money by selling him in the winter window, something they did with Mousa Dembele last time around. Selling him to a direct rival would be a major mistake, but we could make a decent sum from United’s desperation.
