Mauricio Pochettino under increased pressure after 7-2 defeat by Bayern Munich
Tottenham’s capitulation against Bayern Munich was hard to see, especially after we did well in the opening 30 minutes. Going into the break being 2-1 down wasn’t the worst scoreline but the second half was a horror show.
Bayern cut through our team relentlessly and Serge Gnabry ended up scoring four goals, all in the second half.
All the players need to take a good hard look at themselves for the performance, but Mauricio Pochettino is also under scrutiny. The Argentine hasn’t seen his side play great football this season, and English reports (h/t Calciomercato) claim that his position as Tottenham manager is under scrutiny.
The former Espanyol and Southampton manager had spoken about last season’s Champions League final possibly being his last for the club, and things haven’t worked out for us at all.
Calciomercato adds that former Juventus manager Max Allegri is one of the leading options to replace Pochettino.
Tottenham need to sort the mess out
It is a little shocking to see the Champions League finalists from last season struggle this much under one of the best in the world.
Pochettino has worked wonders with Spurs since taking over, and he is the right man to iron out the issues.
However, the longer we struggle, the more pressure Pochettino and the team would be under. Sacking the Argentine now would be an error in judgment as he deserves the time to fix things at the club.
