Tottenham starlet declares he is ready to play after missing most of the season with injury

Juan Foyth hopes to play more after missing season with ankle injury

Juan Foyth hasn’t started for us after picking up an injury during the pre-season. The Argentine injured his ankle in an Audi Cup game against Bayern Munich and reduced our options at the back.

The 21-year-old was on the bench in the 3-0 loss to Brighton but was selected for the upcoming friendlies for Argentina.

The defender told TyC Sports that he was ready to play after recovering from his problem (h/t Football.london):

“I’m happy to be back following my injury, I’m completely recovered. I rejoined the group two weeks ago.

“We all want to enjoy these friendly matches and to continue being taken into consideration.

“If I play as a central defender, that’s good but I can also play as a full back.”

Tottenham need options for their defence

It is great that Foyth is back and ready to play for Tottenham. Spurs have struggled at the back this season and shipped 10 goals in their last two games.

The 21-year-old could be our replacement for the right-back position, and it will be interesting to see if he starts for us against Watford.

The Argentine looked decent in that position last season, but he could also slot in the heart of the defence. Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld haven’t looked great in recent weeks, and we could rest one of them.

The Argentine was unlucky with the timing of his injury and hopefully, he returns from national duty without any other problems.
