Tottenham’s U21s beat Colchester United in Leasing.com Trophy
Tottenham were handed a shock exit from the Carabao Cup a couple of weeks ago by Colchester United.
The League Two side held on to a 0-0 draw before beating a quality Spurs side on penalties. That was a terrible result, with several players underperforming.
However, we got some revenge against the lower league side as our U21 team beat them in the Leasing.com Trophy. Tashan Oakley-Boothe got the equaliser for us in the 80th minute after we fell to a goal just before half-time.
Fans want youngsters to play for the first-team
Coming back to draw the game and win it on penalties shows some maturity in our U21 side. At least, they did better than the senior side and were able to keep their mettle in the penalty shootout.
We do have some quality youngsters available and it will be interesting to see if Mauricio Pochettino turns to them after our poor season. Tottenham lost to Brighton at the weekend and have also been defeated by Leicester City and Newcastle in the league.
We have to turn things around quickly to salvage this season, and Pochettino has a tough job on his hands in the coming weeks. Many Tottenham fans wanted some of the youngsters to play against Watford, and here are some of the reactions from Twitter.
