Paul Robinson wants Tottenham to sign Tyrone Mings
Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has lavished praise on Aston Villa star Tyrone Mings.
The 26-year-old has looked impressive for the Villans in the defence, and Robinson claims the Englishman should be a target for Mauricio Pochettino as soon as possible (h/t Express).
The former goalkeeper was speaking to Football Insider as the defender also played for England in their win over Bulgaria (h/t Express):
“I like Tyrone Mings at Aston Villa, I think he’s been outstanding.
“I think the way he’s been given his England debut this week is no coincidence to his performances.
“I watched him a lot for Aston Villa last year in the Championship and for whatever reason, it didn’t happen at Bournemouth but he seems to have found a home at Villa.”
Robinson praised Mings’ aerial ability and highlighted that the Englishman was a quality left-footed centre-back.
Mings will not come on the cheap
The defender could be the solution to our issues at the back. We need another quality defender as Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are free agents in the summer.
Mings joined the Villans from Bournemouth for £25m and the Express adds that it would take nearly double of that to entice his current club into selling the defender. Tottenham need to make plans for their defence soon and it will be interesting to see who we can target.
