Atletico Madrid want to beat Tottenham to Everton Soares signing
Everton Soares is a target for Tottenham but we face a battle to get hold of the Brazilian, according to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Calciomercato).
The 23-year-old Gremio forward has 12 goals and six assists from 32 games this season. He even featured in the Copa America success for Brazil in the summer and has been linked with AC Milan (h/t Calciomercato).
The report adds that Soares is a target for Atletico Madrid and the Spanish giants are keen on beating Spurs to his signature. The 23-year-old mostly plays on the left of the attack but is capable of starring as a striker too.
Spurs to sign another South American?
Tottenham made several signings in the summer, with Argentine Giovani Lo Celso expected to become an important player. However, the midfielder has missed most of the season with an injury and we could do with more fresh faces in the near future.
Tottenham have a decent South American contingent under Mauricio Pochettino but we need more options in the attack.
Soares could act as cover for Harry Kane but he can also play out wide, which gives Pochettino a lot of scope to use him. Spurs spent big in the summer and it will be interesting to see what our plans are in January.
