Tottenham won’t sell Jan Vertonghen to Inter Milan in January
Tottenham won’t allow Jan Vertonghen to leave in January despite interest from Inter Milan, according to the Guardian.
The Belgian is a free agent at the end of the season and Tottenham will offer him a new deal (h/t Guardian).
However, Inter are willing to hand him a long-term deal of three years, something that Spurs won’t, and the Italians wanted to sign him in the summer window (h/t Guardian).
Antonio Conte’s side were priced out of the move then but could agree on a pre-contract in January.
The report claims that Inter will try to sign him at the end of the season as Spurs won’t sell Vertonghen in January.
Italy calling for Vertonghen?
Offering Vertonghen a new deal is the least we can do given his quality and experience.
However, the 32-year-old’s legs have gone and he hasn’t been at his best this season. Most of our players aren’t doing enough on the pitch and there could be some big changes in the side.
Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen are also free agents at the end of the season, and it will be interesting to see who leave the club.

Vertonghen could revive his career in Italy as the pace is slower in the Serie A, however, we would need an experienced replacement for the Belgian.
