Tottenham target Andre Onana open to leaving Ajax in the future
Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana has been linked with Tottenham recently, according to the Metro. The 23-year-old goalkeeper helped Ajax reach the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.
Onana also featured in the crazy 4-4 draw with Chelsea in midweek and is being eyed by Manchester United too (h/t Metro).
Reports claimed that Tottenham see Onana as a replacement for Hugo Lloris and were ready to make a £35m move for the 23-year-old (h/t Metro).
Onana was speaking after the draw at Stamford Bridge and told the BBC that a move to the Premier League cannot be ruled out (h/t Metro):
“There’s good competition and everyone wants to play here [in England] but to play you need to get a chance.
“The Premier League is not for everybody so we will see. Now, I am with Ajax and I am happy to be the first-choice goalkeeper.”
The keeper added that it was important for him to move later on, but he was happy at Ajax:
“It’s always important for me to move on. I am not going to stay here forever but now I am focused, so let’s keep it this way.”
“I am happy to play for Ajax. I am happy to play for a big club but we will see what will happen at the end of the season.”
Tottenham’s Lloris problems
Lloris is the club captain and has impressed in several games after joining from Lyon.
However, the 32-year-old has made mistakes in goal, such as the Kieran Trippier own-goal we conceded at Stamford Bridge last season.
The Frenchman is out till 2020 with a dislocated elbow, and Paulo Gazzaniga has done a decent job in goal.
