Tottenham interested in January swoop for Napoli star Dries Mertens
Tottenham are interested in signing Napoli attacker Dries Mertens in January, according to Il Mattino (h/t Calciomercato).
The Belgian has scored seven goals for Napoli this season and can play across the front-line.
Arsenal are also interested in a January move for the 32-year-old, who is a free agent at the end of the season (h/t Calciomercato).
Mertens is unlikely to be offered a new deal by the Serie A side after a revolt against orders from the club’s president (h/t Calciomercato).
The Belgian has been one of the top stars in Italy with 88 goals in Serie A for Napoli.
AC Milan, AS Roma, Inter Milan and Juventus are also keen on the 32-year-old (h/t Calciomercato).
Tottenham contact Mertens’ group
Spurs and Arsenal have already contacted the Belgian’s group in hopes of landing him (h/t Calciomercato).
Landing Mertens on a cut-price deal in January would be amazing and the Belgian still has a couple of quality years left.
However, he isn’t a long-term solution for our attack and we would need to find a replacement for him soon too.
Tottenham could do with more attacking talent joining in January as we have struggled for goals this season.
