Tottenham yet to hold discussions with Toby Alderweireld over new deal
Toby Alderweireld is a free agent at the end of the season but has featured in the two games under Jose Mourinho.
The Belgian was dropped by Mauricio Pochettino before the Argentine got the sack. However, Mourinho has put the 30-year-old back in our defence.
Alderweireld could speak with other foreign clubs in the January window to sign a pre-contract agreement.
Sky Sports claims that the future of the Belgian is far from certain. The report goes on to say that no formal talks have been held between the player and the club.
However, this isn’t seen as a problem as Mourinho has recently taken charge of Tottenham and there are some bigger issues to deal with (h/t Sky Sports).
Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen are also free agents at the end of the season, and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for them.
Alderweireld proves his quality for Spurs
The Belgian did pretty well in the opening two games under Mourinho, and he still is one of the best in the Premier League.
Alderweireld might have lost some pace over the years but he still puts in great performances regularly.
Losing him on a free would be a blow and hopefully, he signs a new deal under the new boss.
