Lyon to offer Tottenham-linked Memphis Depay a new deal
Lyon forward Memphis Depay has been linked with several Premier League clubs, including Tottenham, according to the Express.
The Dutch international failed at Manchester United before resurrecting his career at Lyon. Depay is now a regular for the national side and has also been one of the most consistent stars for the French side.
Liverpool and United have also been linked with the 25-year-old (h/t Express). However, Lyon are planning to offer Depay a new deal.
Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas was speaking to BeIN Sports and shared the plans. The president, however, did confirm that Depay would have to decide his future (h/t Express):
“We will make him a contract extension offer because he is an exceptional player.
“He will be the one who will ultimately decide. He is a sweet boy, an interesting man.”
Depay shining for Lyon
The Dutch international has scored 11 goals this season for the club. He has also been great in the Champions League and has featured in most of Holland’s games during the international breaks.
Depay seems to have adjusted well to Ligue 1 and it will be interesting to see if he is on the move again.
His experience with United should help him adjust to the Premier League better than he did the first time.
Spurs could do with another attacker joining, but our defence has been a problem too. We have conceded eight goals from four games since Jose Mourinho took over.
Dele Alli also seems to have found his scoring touch in front of goal and was on target against at Old Trafford.
