Tottenham open to selling Christian Eriksen for less than £40m in January
Daniel Levy is trying to sell Christian Eriksen in the January window and not lose him on a free, according to the Evening Standard.
The Danish midfielder is out of a contract in the summer and has rejected an offer worth more than £200,000-per-week (h/t Evening Standard).
Eriksen isn’t contemplating extending his Spurs future and has also been in conversation with Jose Mourinho (h/t Evening Standard).
The Dane has struggled for form this season and has only two goals for the club. Dele Alli’s revival under Mourinho has also cut Eriksen’s time on the pitch.
Levy wants a big sum for Eriksen
Although the Dane can speak with foreign clubs during the January window, Levy wants a sizeable amount for the Dane.
The report claims that Levy is open to selling Eriksen for less than £40million. The Spurs chairman was also willing to let the Dane join Manchester United for double that amount in the summer (h/t Evening Standard).
Eriksen leaving for free would be a huge blow to the side and it will be interesting to see if any party comes forward in January.
Landing Eriksen on a free would be excellent business for any of the top sides in the world. The Dane is just 27 and will thrive under the right style of play.
