Tottenham interested in struggling Serie A defender Merih Demiral
Merih Demiral has struggled for regular playing time under Maurizio Sarri this season. The Turkish centre-back has only played in one Serie A game for Juventus, however, he is a regular for the national side.
The 21-year-old has been linked with Tottenham as he could leave in the January window, reports the Sun (h/t Calciomercato).
Demiral has also attracted the interest of AC Milan and Arsenal, according to the report. However, he could be one of Jose Mourinho’s first transfers. Tottenham are in contact with the representatives of the defender too (h/t Calciomercato).
Free agent problems for Spurs
Demiral is one of the most talented players in the Serie A but has struggled since joining the Turin giants. A move away in January could be great to resurrect his career, and we could do with a centre-back too.
Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are out of contracts in the summer, and they could leave for nothing. Davinson Sanchez has struggled under Jose Mourinho while Juan Foyth isn’t getting a lot of minutes under the new boss.
Our defending hasn’t been great under the new boss too, with eight goals conceded in the first four games.
