Tottenham are among a host of clubs interested in Merih Demiral
Juventus have decided to keep hold of Turkish defender Merih Demiral, despite the player not living up to expectations in Turin (h/t Calciomercato).
The 21-year-old has made just 4 appearances since his summer transfer from Sassuolo.
Tottenham are among a host of Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Leicester City and Manchester United who are interested in securing the defender’s services (h/t The Sun).
Sarri has preferred a defensive pairing of Leonardo Bonucci and Matthijs De Ligt. With veteran Giorgio Chiellini ahead of him in the pecking order, Demiral is the fourth choice centre-back at the club.
With Bonucci and Chiellini not getting any younger, Demiral could stake a claim for a future pairing with De Ligt if he improves.
With Toby Alderwiereld and Jan Vertonghen running down their contracts and Danny Rose out of favour, a defensive rebuild is required at Spurs. Demiral was on Mourinho’s radar when he was the manager at Manchester United and now, he is interested in bringing the player to Tottenham to partner Davinson Sanchez (h/t Express).
