Tottenham may wait till summer to sign West Brom’s Nathan Ferguson
Tottenham may wait till the summer to move for West Bromwich Albion’s 19-year-old full-back Nathan Ferguson (h/t Birmingham Mail).
Jose Mourinho is interested in the young Englishman, who has made 18 appearances for the Baggies this season, notching up 1 goal and 1 assist (h/t The Sun).
Ferguson will be out of contract in the summer, with the Baggies desperate to keep him at the club. The player has been offered a contract but it seems that talks have stalled between his representatives and the club (h/t Athletic).
A key position for Tottenham
With Keiran Trippier having left the club and Danny Rose out of favour, Serge Aurier and Jan Vertonghem have occupied the full-back positions under Mourinho.
Aurier is an unreliable defender prone to losing his head while Vertonghen lacks pace and will be out of contract in the summer. With the full-back position in dire straits, there will be a spot open for Nathan Ferguson in the squad come next season.
Ferguson can play on both flanks and this should appeal to the Tottenham manager, who must rebuild his defence.
