“Toby’s statement for me was beautiful, simple: ‘I couldn’t be happier in another place.'”

When asked about Eriksen, Mourinho expressed at his desire to see the Danish playmaker stay.
“The only thing I will tell you about Christian is that I would like him to sign a new contract.”

Vertonghen and Eriksen have been key players for Spurs under Mauricio Pocchettino and have ensured that Tottenham regularly qualified for the Champions League.
Mourinho would need the duo to continue this way in the coming years, as Spurs aim to land their first trophy since their League Cup triumph in 2008.
