Tottenham’s pursuit of Nemanja Matic could be derailed by AC Milan attention
Tottenham could face competition from Italian giants AC Milan for the signature of Manchester United’s out-of-favour midfielder Nemanja Matic. (h/t Calciomercato)
United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer doesn’t seem to prefer the 31- year-old Serbian, who has featured just 7 times this season for the club.
Having joined from Chelsea in 2017, Matic has gone on to feature 94 times for United, scoring 3 goals. (h/t Whoscored)
Spurs face competition from Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid, who are also interested in securing the player’s services. (h/t Fox)
Matic’s contract at United expires at the end of this year but the club have an option to extend it by until 2021 if they so desire – an option they may exercise if they cannot find a suitable replacement. (h/t Metro)
Familiar Comfort?
Mourinho clearly rates Matic, having signed him twice – once for Chelsea and then for Manchester United.
With the Serbian’s career entering his twilight years, he would be better served playing under a manager who trusts him and knows how to get the best out of him.

Spurs could face an even bigger threat for Matic’s signature from AC Milan’s inter-city rivals Inter Milan (h/t Calciomercato), who are currently managed by Antonio Conte.
Conte has managed Matic before at Chelsea, having won the Premier League title together in 2016-2017.
Former Manchester United outcasts Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez also play for Inter Milan.
