The 28-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United during Jose Mourinho’s tenure and the Portuguese manager seems set to renew his interest in bringing the towering defender to Spurs.
Spurs have had the worst defensive record in the league since Mourinho arrived. With senior players such as Jan Vertonghen and Danny Rose not committing and Toby Alderweireld looking off the pace, Mourinho has admitted that he is unsure of our best defensive setup. (h/t Daily Mail)
A defensive rebuild is on the cards as Mourinho must build a competitive Tottenham team going into the new decade.
Koulibaly is one of the best defenders in the world and would be the ideal player to build our defence around. His performances last season were rewarded with the inaugural Serie A best defender award.
An aggressive defender, Koulibaly is as quick as he is strong while being an excellent passer of the ball. The Senegalese moved to Napoli in 2014 and has made 226 appearances for the Italian giants. (h/t Whoscored)
