The Argentinian midfielder has found his chances limited since Mourinho’s appointment and has made just 3 appearances under the Portuguese. (h/t Whoscored)
A strong tackler, Foyth has made more appearances for the Argentine national side than for Spurs.
Mourinho had dismissed the idea of the defender going out on loan prior to facing Wolverhampton Wanderers in December.
“At the moment, the players that went to Munich with us are part of our squad, so I don’t think there will be many doors open for players to get out on loan,”
“If you want to be more direct like some media that was saying Foyth was one of them – I can kill it now. No chance.”
Complimenting Foyth’s performance against Bayern, Mourinho had described the player as a better defensive option than Serge Aurier at right-back.
In spite of the praise, the player has found playing time hard to come by.
Foyth’s manager, Claudio Curti has revealed that the defender could leave the club in the coming weeks. (h/t Football London)
“We are evaluating the possibility of going out in the January market,”
We wait for this week to find clarity with Tottenham.”
There are problems aplenty in the Spurs defense with the likes of Toby Alderwiereld and Jan Vertonghen regressing and Davinson Sanchez suffering from a lack of confidence. Danny Rose and Ben Davies are out injured while Serge Aurier is unreliable.
Losing Foyth at this stage would reduce Mourinho’s options at the back as Spurs look to clinch Champions League qualification for next season.
