Transfer News: Lyon unwilling to sanction £54m move for Tottenham Hotspur loanee Tanguy Ndombele.

Midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has hinted at a return to action

Tanguy Ndombele has provided some much-needed good news to Tottenham fans by hinting at a return to training in the near future.

The French star has posted a cryptic message on his Instagram page raising hopes of a quick return. (h/t Football London)

The 23-year-old, who is Tottenham’s record signing, has not featured for the club since limping off injured in the 1-0 loss to Southampton.

Ndombele’s return will come as a blessing as Mourinho is short of midfield options. Moussa Sissoko is out injured till April and Christian Eriksen’s future remains uncertain.

The Frenchman’s move hasn’t gone according to plan, with him scoring just 2 times and assisting 3 in 20 appearances. Injuries haven’t helped his cause either, missing 7 games so far this season out injured. (h/t Whoscored)

The right player at the right time?

Tottenham’s midfield predicament could prove to be Ndombele’s salvation. The French international brings pace and dynamism which is sorely lacking in the midfield – more so since the loss of Sissoko.

Harry Winks is too lightweight and was physically overwhelmed by the Watford midfield. The addition of Ndombele should help negate that to a point. An athletic player with an eye for goal, Ndombele’s forward runs can also relieve the pressure on Heung Min-Son and Lucas Moura. Both of whom have struggled in the absence of a specialist striker.

Chelsea aren’t in the best of form and haven’t been able to pull away in spite of Spurs poor form of late. A resurgent Ndombele and an improving Giovani Lo Celso could be the difference makers in Spurs making the Champions League next season.
