Tottenham to miss out on Ajax starlet Sergino Dest
According to De Telegraaf (h/t Football London), Tottenham Hotspur are set to miss out on the signature of Ajax Amsterdam’s Sergino Dest in the summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old defender joined the Ajax academy from Almere City in 2012. He spent six years in the youth setup before being promoted to the Ajax reserves in 2018 where he made 17 appearances scoring one goal and two assists. He also impressed in the UEFA Youth League where he registered a goal and an assist in seven appearances. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The youngster then proceeded to make his debut for the senior side in 2019 Johan Cruyff shield against PSV Eindhoven.

Dest signed a contract with Ajax last September. German giants Bayern Munich have made a bid of €20 million for the defender. (h/t Football London)
Tottenham have, in recent years, bought some of Ajax’s best players such as Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez. Dest is of the right profile to secure the team’s left-back spot. However, it looks as if Spurs have missed their chance.

Dest has represented the USA at different age groups before making his senior debut in the 3-0 loss to Mexico. The youngster has since made two more appearances for his national side.
He also won the US Soccer Young Male Athlete of the Year award in 2019.
