Twitter reacts to Dele Alli ‘s possible ban for insensitive post
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli’s antics have landed him in a soup once again. The 23-year-old recently posted a video of himself appearing to mock the Coronavirus outbreak. (h/t Telegraph)
The Football Association is looking into the incident and has written to Alli to ask for his observations. If the video is indeed deemed racist, Alli is likely to be charged with a hefty fine and a ban (h/t Telegraph).
Currently on his winter break, the England international shot the video on his way to Dubai. Alli has since deleted the video and apologized for letting both the club and the fans down.
The player is no stranger to controversy, having previously been hauled up for making inappropriate gestures towards match officials.
Responding to the incident, a spokesperson for Tottenham said: “Dele has recognized he made a grave error of judgment and has issued two separate apologies.”
A ban for Alli is an unneeded distraction for a Spurs team looking to lay siege to Chelsea in the fourth spot. Tottenham are currently four points off the Blues as they aim to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.
A number of Spurs fan too to Twitter to react to the prospect of the player being banned for his actions. Although a number of them believe the player was joking, they have acknowledged his insensitivity in doing so.

Here it comes, they will all be calling for a lengthy ban now but Dele only has himself to blame. 🙄https://t.co/dGTMezj6C5

FWIW I don't for a minute think Dele Alli was intending to be racist but what he did was stupid and offensive. He will have to take whatever comes his way. Story here on what the FA, FARE and Kick It Out think https://t.co/9CHtu0efJ5

People comparing him to Bernardo and Harvey Elliot.
Bernardo got of scott free for racism(1 game ban), Elliot got 2 weeks for saying Mong. Dele Alli isnt defending himself, unlike Bernardo. Mourinho wont be saying 'normal people' either— shazz (@46milliGuinea) February 9, 2020
1 or 2 game ban for Dele Alli then. Just what we don't need right now
