According to German newspaper Bild, (h/t The Sun), The Premier League is the ‘dream destination’ for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, amid rumoured interest from a number of Europe’s top clubs in the player’s services this summer.
The 21-year-old defender who has 18-months left on his current deal with the Bundesliga side has been linked with both Spurs and North London rivals Arsenal, as well as a host of other Europen sides, including Barcelona.
L’Equipe (h/t The Sun) claim that the defender’s release clause could be as little as £53 million.
RB Leipzig are hoping they can persuade Upamecano to sign a new contract over the next few months, in a bid to prevent themselves from losing one of their most prized assets for a relatively low transfer fee.
Spurs boss Jose Mourinho travelled to Germany over the weekend to watch Dayot Upamecano’s side RB Leipzig who Spurs face in the Champions League next week, hold Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich to a hard-fought 0-0 draw at the Allianz Arena last Sunday.
A previous report recently claimed that while preparing for next week’s first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was the primary reason for the 57-year-old’s attendance, he may have also been watching Dayot Upamecano with particular interest.
Jose Mourinho will get the opportunity to watch the defender close up, as his side gear up for a mouthwatering two-legged last 16 tie against Leipzig, which
