Twitter reacts to Hugo Lloris masterclass against Leipzig
If Tottenham have any chance of overturning the deficit, all credits must go to Hugo Lloris.
The Spurs captain was in impeccable form as he withstood a barrage of attacks from RB Leipzig to keep his team in the tie. Julian Nagelsmann’s team got off to a great start and could have easily scored twice in the opening two minutes if not for the goalkeeper.
Timo Werner went close a number of times while Angelino also had his shot turned onto the post. Tottenham could not cope with the Germans’ movement in the early stages and had it not been for the 33-year-old, the tie would have been over in the first 45 minutes.
There was no letting off after the break and Lloris was equal to it. He once again denied Werner and was at the right place to stop Patrik Schick from finishing off a Leipzig counter-attack.
In the end, it took a penalty to beat the Frenchman. To his credit, he dove the right way and could have saved it on another day. It was an inspiring performance by Lloris who has spent a large portion of the season on the sidelines. By keeping the score at 1-0 he has kept the team’s chances alive. The return leg will be played at the Red Bull Arena on 10th March.
Many Spurs fans were similarly impressed by the captain. A number of them took to Twitter to express themselves and we take a look at few of them below.

Hugo Lloris is having a great game here, it'd be 3/4-0 to Leipzig had it not been for his saves. #TOTRBL
