Tottenham’s Steven Bergwijn caught speeding and could face driving ban
According to a report by VoetbalPrimeur.nl (h/t The Sun), Tottenham Hotspur ace Steven Bergwijn was caught speeding at 91mph in a built-up area. He could face a driving ban and the report further adds that the player and his lawyer failed to show up in court on Thursday morning, meaning there could be an escalation.
Bergwijn was a part of the team that played against RB Leipzig in the Champions League recently. Although he couldn’t save us from defeat, the attacker has shown signs of improvement lately.
The former Ajax youth star was travelling at 91mph on August 9 at 3.30am when he was caught by the speeding cameras. Prior to the incident, Bergwijn had netted the sole goal in PSV Eindhoven’s Europa League qualifier against FK Haugesund in Norway.
As per the report, the limits on Boschdijk road in Eindhoven range between 31mph and 43mph. And Bergwijn was clearly in violation of the same, cruising around at 91mph. The report adds that the judge has adjourned the case to a later date.

It is indeed a shame that he could be facing a driving ban for something that happened so long ago. However, traffic violations should be taken seriously and Bergwijn must assume responsibility for his actions.
While his performances on the field continue to blossom, let’s hope this issue resolves soon and he can focus on delivering his best in Tottenham colours.
