Jose Mourinho urged to sign Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish
Former Tottenham player Jamie O’Hara has urged Jose Mourinho to sign Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish in the summer transfer window, as per Talksport (h/t Football.London).
The 24-year old has been in excellent form for the Villians. He has scored nine goals and eight assists in 29 appearances this season. The midfielder comfortable leads the club ‘s season statistics with respect to goals and assists.
Spurs would be familiar with the player’s abilities, having played against him just over a week ago. Grealish was at the centre of everything Villa threw at us with a commanding performance from the midfield. Dele Alli had no answer to his compatriot’s performance that day.
Grealish almost joined Tottenham on a cut-price deal in the summer of 2018. O’Hara believes that the club should go back in for the player now.
The former Spurs man praised Grealish for his ability to get into pockets and called him a perfect fit for Tottenham. he also elaborated upon how the midfielder can link up with Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and Heung-Min Son thereby adding a new dimension to the Spurs team.
A midfield lacking in imagination?
The Spurs midfield has struggled to impose itself in games this season. A lack of creativity becomes apparent especially in the lack of strikers available.
Jose Mourinho’s side are overly dependent on the likes of Giovani Lo Celso to creat from central midfield. It’s a risky approach that could backfire if the player has a quiet day.
In Grealish, they will have a player who can not only run with the ball at his feet but also drives forward at the opposition defenses. Adding a player with such traits can add a new dimension to largely unimaginative Spurs midfield.
