Jose Mourinho heaps praise on Harry Winks and lauds him for improving
According to a report by Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has lavished praise on midfield star Harry Winks.
Winks has played regularly for the North London outfit this term, making 31 appearances already. Although we have been hit by injuries to several stars, the 24-year-old has grabbed every opportunity by the scruff of the neck.
Mourinho did not waste any time in commending the youngster for his reliable and improved displays. Replying to a question about tactics, the Portuguese said:
“[Giovani] Lo Celso can arrive and create, [Tanguy] Ndombele can arrive and create. [Harry] Winks is improving a lot, a lot. He thinks much more forward than before.”
Winks is a defensive midfielder by trade but since Mourinho’s arrival, he can be seen contributing to the attack as well. Acknowledging the same, he further went on to say:
“Even in the area of his movement, he was a lot more positional than he is now. Now you can see him on the left and the right trying to do that.”
From being a fresh-faced young player under Mauricio Pochettino to becoming an established first-team regular under Mourinho, Winks has enjoyed quite a journey. He has been with the club from a very young age and it is great to see him fulfilling his vast potential at such an important point in the season.
