Daniel Levy hatches plan to keep Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur

According to The Telegraph, Daniel Levy is likely to offer Spurs striker Harry Kane a massive £200,000-a-week contract to keep him from moving to Manchester United.

According to the report, Tottenham faces a battle to convince Kane to stay put as he looks to take his career to the next level.

Spurs face a real battle to get into the Champions League next season. Failure to do so will leave them with just £50 million to spend on new players with the club having to sell to raise extra funds.

With a summer revamp to come, it is imperative that Spurs keep hold of their best talents rather than risk losing them to direct rivals. United are in a similar position to us and losing our best player will send out the wrong signal.

Kane still has four years left on his contract and will not be allowed to leave on the cheap. Tottenham value the player upwards of £150 million and are in a strong negotiating position given the extent of Kane’s contract.

The soon to be 27-year-old had spoken earlier of his wish to win trophies with Tottenham. It remains to be seen how he will take it if Spurs indeed fail to make the top four.

The English captain is currently recovering from a hamstring injury and is expected to return to action in April. Tottenham are currently five points off fourth and find themselves having to get a result in Leipzig to progress in the Champions League.

It is possible that by the time Kane returns, Spurs’s season will be over with nothing to play for except pride. It now becomes imperative that the club tries to take advantage of our rivals’ slip-ups.

Real Madrid are also interested in Kane although they would rather make a move for Kylian Mbappe. It remains to be seen if any club can match Levy’s valuation for the player.

Mourinho is in need of a number of signings in key areas. A right-back, a central defender and another striker regardless of Kane’s decision. He will be hard-pressed to attract the best without the lure and finances of the Champions League.

Losing Kane won’t just be a setback to our aim of challenging for the title but it will also cast doubts on our ability to hold onto our best talents as we look to rebuild under Mourinho.

What happens in the summer remains to be seen, but getting into the top four has never been this crucial for the club’s immediate future.
