Bizarre turn of events at the end of Jose Mourinho’s press conference as reporter consoles Spurs boss

Jose Mourinho told to cheer up by reporter in post-Leipzig presser

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho was involved in an awkward exchange with a reporter at the end of the post-match press conference after the loss at Leipzig.

It was not a night to remember for Mourinho as he endured his fifth loss in six games. This winless streak of half a dozen games is the longest he has suffered in his 20 years as a manager.

Marcel Sabitzer was the wrecker in chief as his two goals in the first 21 minutes put an end to any hopes Tottenham may have had of a comeback. Emil Forsberg came off the bench to score in the second half as the Germans ran out 3-0 winners on the night.

It was a night filled with unwanted records and barely a positive to mention. This did not, however, stop a reporter from trying to engage the Portuguese in a conversation that turned out to be extremely awkward.

The incident occurred at the end of the presser as Mourinho prepared to leave. The reporter walked up to the Spurs boss and tried to assure him that things will be alright.

“Cheer up, it’s going to be alright.”

Mourinho looked surprised by the unexpected event and stopped to question the man what exactly he was going on about. The reporter went on to repeat the same line prompting the Portuguese manager to question what exactly was going to be alright?

The man went on to reply that the season will be okay while once again asking Mourinho to cheer up.

“This season. It’s going to be ok.”

A surprised Mourinho replied vaguely before exiting the presser. It is unsure what the man’s intention was, but it seems suspicious considering he was filming the exchange.

Tottenham return to action this weekend when Mourinho faces his former side Manchester United. It is a battle between two clubs with aims to usurp Chelsea’s position in the table.

With just nine games remaining in the season, Tottenham are seven points behind the Blues and cannot afford to lose any ground to their local rivals.
