Tottenham Hotspur are keen on Wolverhampton striker Raul Jimenez
According to ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur are keen to beat North London rivals Arsenal to the signature of Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez.
The 28-year-old has enjoyed a stellar season at the Molineux and has scored 22 goals and 10 assists in 44 games this season. His performances have played a key role in Wolves’ progression to the last 16 of the Europa League.
Tottenham fans will remember the Portuguese’s display against their team this month. He capped off a brilliant performance by scoring the winner as Wolves came back from 2-1 down to win 3-2 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs face competition for the Mexican from arch-rivals Arsenal. The Gunners too are having a season to forget and are below us in the league table. We have a better team and can promise the player better chances of success in the coming seasons.
Having signed for Wolves in 2018 on a year-long loan, Jimenez made the switch permanent last summer for a club-record £30million.
Since making the move to England, Jimenez has gone on to make 88 appearances for Wolves and has scored an impressive 39 goals and 18 assists. His movement and ability to link up with his teammates has been an impressive feature of his play.
A dependable option
Tottenham have had rough luck with injuries this season. The likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min are out long-term. January signing Steven Bergwijn too has now joined the list with him expected to not make an appearance anytime soon.
The addition of Jimenez to the squad will not just add a dependable backup to Kane but also give us more options to implement different styles. The Mexican isn’t just a clinical striker but is also an excellent creator of goals as he constantly passes to his teammates in better positions.
Mourinho has earlier expressed his admiration of the player, describing him as fantastic.
