QPR star Eberechi Eze has been linked with a move to Tottenham
The Sun reports that Tottenham are leading the race to sign Eberechi Eze of QPR.
The 21-year-old has done well for the Championship side this season and Spurs scout Brian Carey watched him play in the 3-1 win over Preston recently.
QPR don’t have a chance of making it to the playoff spots unless a miracle happens but Eze has been one of their stars this season.
The 21-year-old has scored 11 times for QPR this season from 34 games and has also featured for the England U21 side.
The Sun adds that Mauricio Pochettino was keen on landing Eze before his sacking. Jose Mourinho is also interested in the 21-year-old (h/t Sun) and it will be interesting to see if we make a move for him in the summer.
Eze is not a cheap player
QPR want £20million for the U21 England international and that has already scared off other clubs such as Crystal Palace and Sheffield United (h/t Sun).
Spurs could do with another striker, especially with Mourinho not giving too many chances to Troy Parrott.
Tottenham could tempt QPR with a player-swap deal and Eze is contracted with QPR until 2021. Mourinho isn’t known for playing too many youngsters but seems to have put his faith in Japhet Tanganga.
Spurs have had several injury problems this season, especially with their attackers. We didn’t strengthen this position at the start of the campaign and allowed Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente to leave.
That didn’t work out for us in the second half of the season. Harry Kane is out for a while with a hamstring problem while Son Heung-min fractured his arm recently. That has reduced our options in the attack, however, the season has been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
