Steven Bergwijn provides positive injury update amidst coronavirus
Tottenham Hotspur’s injury woes were worsened when January signing Steven Bergwijn was injured prior to the second leg against RB Leipzig. It added to an already critical list featuring the names of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min.
The suspension of the league due to the coronavirus pandemic could work out in Spurs’ favour as injured stars such as Kane and Moussa Sissoko are nearing a return.
Although a clear timeline has not been mentioned, Bergwijn has also revealed that he is on the mend. Speaking to the club’s official website (h/t Daily Star), he revealed that he is making positive progress and can walk now.
“As you can see, I can walk now and today (Thursday) I’ll get my new boot, so that’s good news.”

He revealed that he was in great pain following the match against Burnley and could not sleep. Bergwijn believed that the injury was serious the moment he felt the kick during the game.

With football across Europe being suspended due to the pandemic, Bergwijn is under no pressure to return to action early. In what is a tough time for the world, he has urged people to stay together and take care of their health.
