Tottenham enter race with PL rivals to sign Philippe Coutinho
According to a report by The Mirror (h/t Daily Star), Tottenham are keen on signing Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho in the summer transfer window. The player who is currently out on loan with Bayern Munich, is also being targeted by Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, reports The Mirror (h/t Daily Star).
The report adds that Bayern have the option to sign Coutinho once the loan spell comes to an end. However, with four Premier League clubs vying for his signature, it remains to be seen if the Bundesliga outfit chooses to exercise that option.
To be fair, Coutinho has not even gotten close to the heights he achieved at Liverpool. Leaving Anfield was a major mistake on his part – especially since the Reds ended up winning the coveted Champions League trophy right after he left.
Regardless, he is a proven commodity in England and his presence would provide Jose Mourinho with a handy boost – provided Daniel Levy is able to work his charm and lure the attacking midfielder to our side of London.
Interestingly enough, Bayern are unwilling to match Barcelona’s £100m asking price. And considering how stringent Levy is with his budget, it would be a miracle if he chooses to shell out that kind of money for a player who hasn’t been at his best in a long, long time.

Furthermore, it remains to be seen if Levy can work out a sizeable contract for the player who is currently earning £240,000-per-week.
