Rio Ferdinand believes Philippe Coutinho and Tottenham are a perfect fit
Philippe Coutinho is one of the Premier League’s biggest names of the 2010s. A bonafide star at Liverpool, the Brazilian’s nimble footwork and trademark long shot are regular features of any highlight reel.
The 27-year-old made a much-publicized move to Barcelona in January 2018. Arriving as one of the world’s best players, he has enjoyed an underwhelming time at the Nou Camp.
So much so that just a year and a half later, Barcelona were willing to let their record signing leave on loan to Bayern Munich. Coutinho has failed to hold down a starting berth at Bayern and the Germans seem unwilling to take him permanently.
With his future up in the air, Tottenham continues to be one of the clubs linked. The player has apparently indicated his desire to return to England, which could be a point in our favour if we decide to move for him.
A good fit!
The player has been touted as a good match for Spurs by former United defender Rio Ferdinand. Speaking on an Instagram Q and A (h/t The Sun), the United legend is under no doubt that the player will prove to be a hit at Tottenham.
“Yes he would, 100 percent. People like Kane, Dele, Son etc. all feed off someone like him.”
He admitted that he could have recommended the player to join United had it not been for Bruno Fernandes. The fact that Ferdinand admits as much indicates where he holds the Brazilian at.
Ferdinand has similarly dismissed the player’s links to Liverpool and Manchester City while stating that he does not expect Coutinho to fit in at Arsenal.

The Brazilian still remains a potent player and already has the experience of playing in England. He could prove to be a shrewd signing given his quality and matchwinning ability. Whether Tottenham will get the player or not remains to be seen.
