Jose Mourinho helps deliver essentials to vulnerable members of society
The coronavirus pandemic has brought to a standstill the world as we know it. Football is no exception with matches being suspended at least until early May.
In times such as these, the sport must take a backseat as events of more importance take precedence. As public figures, football stars and managers have a say in the community, it is heartening to see a number of them out and about helping the community.
The latest name to be added to this list is Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese tactician has led from the front and was seen volunteering in London.
According to Sky Sports, Mourinho worked alongside Age UK and Love Your DoorStep in the Enfield area to prepare food parcels and other items. These parcels are to be delivered to the vulnerable members of the community.
The charity has been contributing to the response by delivering essential goods to elderly members of society. It will come as a great relief to those who have been quarantined for the next 12 weeks.
Age UK have launched a £10 million emergency fund. The funds raised will be used to support Age UK’s national telephone friendship and advice lines. It will also be used as part of front-line local Age UK support, including food packages. (h/t Sky Sports)
It is not just Mourinho who has been doing his best to help society. Star defender Toby Alderweireld has come up with a novel idea to bring loved ones closer. The 31-year-old Belgian is planning to purchase dozens of electronic devices to ensure that the ill do not feel alone during the coronavirus pandemic.
