Tottenham go head to head against Everton for Lille’s Gabriel
Tottenham Hotspur will go head to head against Everton in pursuit of Lille defender Gabriel, according to Sky Sports News (h/t Football.london).
Central defence is one area that Tottenham have to reinforce. Jan Vertonghen is out of contract in the summer and is on the decline while Toby Alderweireld isn’t getting any younger.
Gabriel is only 22 and could prove to be a long-term solution at the heart of the defence. He has made 52 appearances for Lille and has grown into an important player at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.
Gabriel is chased by a number of clubs including our Premier League rivals Everton. A tall defender, the Brazilian is a real presence at the back.
A rising talent
Magalhaes is one of a string of young stars emerging from Lille’s squad under the stewardship of sporting director Luis Campos and head coach Christophe Galtier. The likes of Victor Osimhen and Boubakary Soumare are also rising stars at Lille.
Jose Mourinho has a good relationship with Campos which could work in our favour. The duo had earlier worked together at Real Madrid.
The youngster could cost in the region of £30million. The report suggests that his future is due to be decided in the coming weeks. A versatile player, Gabriel is also capable of playing at left-back and defensive midfield. The player’s contract at Lille runs until 2023. More Tottenham Hotspur News

A left-footed defender, he is capable of playing from the back. Only Brazilian compatriot Thiago Silva of PSG has completed more long passes than Gabriel this season in Ligue 1.
