Emmanuel Petit has slammed Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele

As reported by The Sun, former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has slated Tottenham Hotspur star Tanguy Ndombele for his lack of fitness and focus.

Ndombele joined Tottenham last summer in a club-record £55m deal from Olympique Lyon. The Frenchman made a great start to life with our club, scoring on debut against Aston Villa. But, intermittent injuries have had a debilitating effect on his season with us.

Till date, Ndombele has featured 27 times in all competitions for Tottenham, scoring twice and setting up four more. The midfielder was at the receiving end of some harsh criticism from manager Jose Mourinho after our Premier League clash against Burnley. He was then left out of the squad for our Champions League clash against RB Leipzig.

And now, Petit has also slated Ndombele, questioning his fitness levels. Speaking to The Sun, the former Arsenal midfielder said:

“Is he overweight? He looks a little bit. But his body language does not help him. He needs to improve physically. When I see him I think ‘Come on, you can do more than that’.”

The Frenchman also expressed his dismay at Ndombele’s lack of consistency, while insisting that the midfielder has the quality to succeed at Tottenham but needs to do more than what he has been doing.

Petit also noted that Ndombele needs to make more of an effort to adapt to his new surroundings, to the rigours of Premier League football. (h/t The Sun)
